A drawing package has its own history — and it's easy to quote the wrong page of it.

The rev you quoted isn't the rev they released

Revision tables sit in a corner of the sheet, and the chain that says which rev is current isn't always obvious at a glance. Quote off a superseded rev and the mismatch surfaces after the parts are cut.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know I'm quoting the current revision of a drawing?

The revision table is parsed off the sheet itself and ordered into a supersession chain. The current rev becomes a fact read from the drawing rather than a guess from the corner of the title block, and both the chain and the basis it was ordered on are shown. Quote off a superseded rev and you find out after the parts are cut.

What happens when a drawing package spans several sheets?

Multi-sheet packages get merged into one job rather than read as separate parts. The safeguard matters more than the merge: when two sheets disagree on the part number, that disagreement is raised as its own flag instead of one sheet quietly winning. Title block, BOM, and revision data from every sheet land in the same structured record.

Does it read the title block and parts list, or do we still re-type them?

Drawing number, material, finish, sheet count, and the parts list come off the title block and BOM table into structured fields. Each value is confidence-scored like every other read, so a smudged material callout shows as a low-confidence field rather than a clean-looking mistake. Nobody re-types the sheet, and two estimators stop reading the same block two ways.
