## Frequently asked questions

#### How do I cost a whole assembly instead of adding up separate part quotes?

An assembly rolls up into one costed BOM: the cheapest feasible route per part at your assembly quantity, tooling non-recurring cost counted once per part, and a lead time on the critical-path part. A roll-up built by hand does neither — tooling gets counted again on every quote it appears in, and lead times get added up when they should have run in parallel.

#### Can I drop in one multi-body file, or do I have to split it up first?

A multi-body STEP, 3MF, or STL gets split into placed parts automatically, with identical duplicates collapsed into a quantity. The split comes back as a proposal, not a result: rename a body, exclude one, adjust the quantities, and nothing goes through analysis until you have accepted what the file actually contains.

#### Will it tell me if two parts in the assembly interfere?

A coarse geometric screen over the assembly's real relative placement flags parts that overlap or sit closer than they should. The screen is advisory, and it is not a mating solver or a tolerance stack-up — every finding says so on its face. Catching an overlap on the model still beats catching it on the bench with everything already cut.

#### Does it spot parts that could share tooling?

Parts in the same assembly that share a casting family and alloy get flagged as a shared-mold opportunity on the BOM. The flag is a hint for a tooling conversation and nothing more — what it tells you is that two line items on the same BOM are already asking for the same kind of tool.
